Sony Brings the Magic of Vinyl To A Modern Audience

There are one or two of us at Simply Electricals old enough to remember when vinyl was the format of choice for music lovers and the news that Sony are releasing the PSHX500, a premium vinyl turntable later this year, is something we’re pretty excited about.

Not only does this new device bring back the truly unique sound that vinyl produces, but it has one or two gizmos that actually improve the experience.

Under the Hood

The PSHX500’s outward appearance is that of a classic turntable and is constructed from Die Cast metal.

Other hardware features include:

  • An integrated round head and ‘anti-resonance’ arm
  • A 2 speed motor for both 45 and 78 records
  • 5mm rubber mat and 4 insulator feet for maximum stability during vinyl playback
  • High Density acoustic plinth
  • ‘Anti Skating’ device

Superlative Sound at Home or On the Move

The superior sound that vinyl creates is not just available to its owner at home, but also on the move, thanks to the DSD converter that comes included in the PC software that comes with the deck.

This converter enables reproduction of High Res Audio that loses nothing from the original vinyl recording, meaning you can take the experience with you wherever you go.

Creative Editing

The PC software included also allows the owner to edit, cut, splice and generally get creative with your recordings. The Audio is ‘ripped’ from the vinyl and is then available to do with as you please.

This deck brings together the unique sound of vinyl records and combines it with the flexibility of modern technology. It will be available from April 16 in Europe and is thought to be in the £350-£400 price bracket.
